Mazda

Mazda has supported Auckland Zoo with its conservation efforts and wildlife advocacy since 2012. This longstanding relationship epitomises a partner that truly champions the Zoo to be a wildlife conservation science at work organisation. Mazda continues to drive conservation and education at Auckland Zoo by providing vehicles to be used by the Zoo team to help with day-to-day operations on site. Mazda is passionate about doing its bit for the natural environment and is extremely proud of its long-standing partnership with Auckland Zoo.

Impact 1

From driving expert staff that work in eradicating pests in the wild and conservation fieldwork projects, Mazda vehicles play a vital role in assisting us to help so much of our local wildlife!

Mazda enables our staff to transport kiwi, whio, pateke, and wetapunga that have all been bred at the Zoo to their release sites for their new life in the wild. They also transport some of the smaller animals that arrive and depart from the Zoo along with food supplies and other fieldwork equipment. That’s a lot of mileage!

Tip Top has been a commercial partner of Auckland Zoo since 2011. They have played a big part in bringing moments of happiness to the millions of visitors we’ve had at the Zoo over the last 11 years. They’ve not only helped our visitors keep cool on a hot Auckland summer days, but they’ve also supported initiatives like the 100th exhibition and the Wildlife Science Champions Expo.

Impact 1

Thanks to Tip Top, we brought a lot of joy to tamariki and whānau for our 100th exhibition. We created bespoke monkey and tiger animal scoop ice cream! We also gave away hundreds of ice creams as prizes for activities that encouraged our visitors to explore a century of Auckland Zoo.

Former Principal Partner

Barfoot & Thompson

In 2023, Barfoot & Thompson celebrated their 100th year following the Zoo’s own centenary birthday on 17th December 2022. As two organisations who both have a long history here in Tāmaki Makaurau as well as a love for our city and our diverse communities, the Zoo was proud to be moving into our next century in partnership with Barfoot & Thompson. This marked an important time in our history, as this partner enabled us to further our role as a good modern zoo in helping to tackle the biodiversity crisis we are currently experiencing on our planet through their support of the Conservation Fund.

Impact 1

Thanks to the support of Barfoot & Thompson, the Zoo was able to create a dynamic and interactive experience centenary exhibition ‘100 Years – A century of wild life’ at Auckland Zoo and provide free entry to everyone.

MediaWorks

In 2021, MediaWorks increased our footprint to include radio and digital to an already impressive out-of-home network when they acquired our existing partnership with QMS. Their coverage for campaigns, activations and activities continues to increase the Zoo’s impact to inspire everyone to build a future for wildlife. In return the Zoo provides a variety of content for their audience including competition giveaways, ability to engage new audiences and hosting a morning breakfast show!

Impact 1

The biggest bus panel ‘The ShowStopper’ to roam the streets of Tāmaki Makaurau – it has remained one of the most compelling advertising mediums. By partnering with MediaWorks, we were able to bring to life our largest brand artwork featuring the majestic lions.

It costs more than $20M per year to run Auckland Zoo and, as part of Tataki Auckland Unlimited, almost a third of that is contributed by Auckland Council.

The Zoo generates the remainder through admissions, memberships, retail, catering, partnerships and fundraising. Additional support enables the Zoo to have an even greater positive impact in our communities and out in the wild.
