We’ve successfully hatched and reared a healthy kororā chick!
You may remember when we shared the news about this kororā (little penguin) hatching late last year. In previous years, in a large part because of their disabilities, our colony of penguin rescues have not been successful in rearing their own chicks.
In this video, we follow our birds team leader Carl and bird keeper Casey as they explain the decision to step in and rear this chick, and the process from hatching, to successfully rearing and re-introducing Tamāroa to the kororā colony.
Come and visit Takutai (The Coast) this Easter weekend.
