Travel back in time on our Dinosaur Discovery Track to experience some of the awe-inspiring creatures that lived up to 250 million years ago.

This immersive educational experience in the Zoo’s former elephant habitat features 25 full-scale animatronic dinosaurs that move and roar. Open 10am - 5pm daily until 31 October 2025.

Calling all junior palaeontologists. Something of Jurassic scale has arrived! Join us as we travel back in time to explore life from long ago. Hear them roar, find their fossils, and engage your senses in our immersive dinosaur discovery track. There is something for all claws to get stuck into.

This session, designed with te whāriki in mind, allows ECE students the freedom to explore, listen, play, create and learn, with guidance from our conservation learning facilitators.

Session: Two sessions available per day:

  • Under 2’s will last 25 – 30 minutes,
  • Over 2’s will last 30 – 40 minutes.

Auckland Zoo entry included in your booking, you are free to explore the rest of the Zoo before or after your session.

FAQs

We operate rain or shine. we have limited covered areas, but there may be a possibility to move a session inside if there are classrooms available for your session. Cancelling at the last minute may incur cancellation fees, but postponement is preferred if you cannot come on the day.

Yes, there are areas to fill water bottles. Water fountains are highlighted on your provided map.

Yes, these are highlighted on your Zoo map. Changing facilities are found in most bathrooms, but family or parent rooms across from Te Puna café.

No, no animals will be fed during the session.

It is our preference that your centre gets invoiced after your trip. This allows for a smooth and timely entrance into the Zoo to be able to start your session on time. There are situations where paying on arrival is available, but this will have to be arranged with the facilitator arranging your trip.

For ECE sessions, the health and safety ratio is 1:3 (1 adult per 3 children).
