Thousands of students from low decile schools are reaping the benefits of The Warehouse School Zoofari, an innovative conservation education programme being offered through a partnership between Auckland Zoo and The Warehouse.

The Warehouse School Zoofari includes free transport and entry to Auckland Zoo for all eligible schools. It also includes a free 45 minute facilitated session with a zoo educator, resources and teacher workshops.

The Warehouse School Zoofari is possible thanks to the generous support of The Warehouse stores nationwide, and with support from Ritchies Coachlines.

What does The Warehouse School Zoofari programme include for Auckland schools?

The Warehouse School Zoofari includes free transport and entry to Auckland Zoo for all eligible schools in Auckland. It also includes entry to the zoo for the day, a free 1 hour facilitated session with a zoo educator and resources. 

When can we come?

The programme will run exclusively in Terms 2 and 3.
Sessions are offered subject to availability - please enquire early to ensure your school's participation.

Who is eligible?

All year 3 -6 students of decile 1-3 schools in the Auckland Ministry of Education region (from Franklin District in the South to Rodney District in the North) are eligible.

One free adult for every 6 students is permitted. Additional adults will be required to pay standard admission rates. Preference will be given to schools who have not participated in the Zoofari programme before, however, we will be accepting applications from schools who have participated previously.

How is the transport arranged?

Transport is generously provided by Ritchies Coachlines.
Auckland Zoo will book this on your behalf. Maximum two buses per school (maximum of 90 children) .

What is expected of teachers and students?

To ensure students get the most from their visit to the Zoo, teachers are required to attend a pre-visit workshop at the Zoo and undertake some activities with their students before their zoo visit.

Teachers who have previously participated in this workshop need not attend however we will contact the organising teacher for a korero over the phone before your visit.

What if we want to bring the whole school?

The Warehouse School Zoofari programme applies to year 3-6 students only.
You are welcome to bring other year levels of your school for a Zoo visit, however, entry to the zoo for these students will be at normal education rates and you will have to organise and pay for their transport.

The Warehouse School Zoofari includes free transport and entry to Auckland Zoo for all eligible schools in Northland. 

It also includes a free 1 hour facilitated session with a zoo educator and resources.

If you choose to stay over night the school is responsible for the organization and payment of their own accommodation.

When can we come?

The programme will run exclusively in Terms 2 and 3 for 2018. Sessions are offered subject to availability - please enquire early to ensure your school's participation.

One free adult for every 6 students is permitted. Additional adults will be required to pay standard admission rates.

How is the transport arranged?

Transport is generously provided by Ritchies Coachlines. Auckland Zoo will book this on your behalf. Usual bus numbers of 50 people (including adults) per bus will apply.
