1. The Auckland Zoo photography competition ‘Zoo Snaps’ is open to New Zealand residents aged 14 years and above.
  2. Employees or agencies associated with Auckland Zoo may not enter the competition.
  3. Photos must be taken at Auckland Zoo within the last three months of posting, to be admissible to the competition.
  4. All entrants can only win the competition once for each 12 month period. 
  5. Any photography that does not meet acceptable guidelines, for example taking a photograph of a person without their consent or in a questionable position may be forfeit.
  6. Entrants may submit as many photos as they like, but they may not submit the same photo more than once.
  7. By submitting an entry to the competition by using #ZooSnaps on any social media platform or by uploading your photo directly to our Zoo Snaps page you grant Auckland Zoo the permission to:
    a, re-share your photo on our social media channels, reproduce this image on-site and use it for promotional materials.
    b, use the person’s name who submitted/uploaded the photo to announce them as the winner.
  8. The Zoo Snaps competition is open to all photographers both amateur and professional.
  9. Entrants into this competition, Zoo Snaps, shall be deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions.
  10. You own the copyright to your Competition entry as its author. Your entry must be your own work, must not be copied, must not contain any materials and/or content that you do not have permission to use, must not include any trade-marks, and must not show inappropriate or dangerous behaviour, or otherwise be obscene, defamatory, distasteful, offensive, or in breach of any applicable law or regulation. If Auckland Zoo has reason to believe your entry is not your own work or otherwise breaches these Terms and Conditions, we may disqualify it.
  11. The prizes are not transferable or exchangeable, and cannot be redeemed for cash.

  13. This overall competition is divided into 12 separate monthly competitions, the first of which starts on 1 January 2024 with the following monthly competitions scheduled on the first week of each month. The overall competition closes 31 December 2024, there will be a public vote via our social media channels to decide the overall Zoo Snap prize winner for 2024 and the winner will be announced at the end of January 2025. Auckland Zoo reserves the right to extend the closing date.
  14. Entrants into this competition, Zoo Snaps, shall be deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions.

Announcing winners

  1. The winner will be announced at the end of each month with the winning photo shared on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, on-site and on our website.
  2. A panel of Zoo Crew members will judge all entries before declaring the winner.
  3. The winner of each monthly competition will be automatically entered into the draw for the 12-monthly prize.

The Prizes

  1. The monthly prize consists of:
    a. A double or family pass to Auckland Zoo
    b. A surprise gift from our Auckland Zoo gift shop
    c. The winning photo will be shared on our social media channels, on-site at the zoo and on our website.
  2. The ultimate 12-monthly prize winner will receive a brand new Nikon mirrorless camera from our friends and naming rights supporter at Nikon!
